Pumdikot Shiva Statue, Pokhara
Pumdikot is a hill station near Pokhara which is famous for the Statue of Lord Shiva residing on the top of the hill at an altitude of 1,500m above sea level.
It is the second largest statue of Shiva in Nepal. And the height of the Shiva Statue at Pumdikot is 51 feet which is residing above a white stupa which is 57 feet itself. So the total height of the statue is 108 feet.
The Shiva Statue at Pumdikot faces towards South-West Direction where Mt. Kailash lies.
The Shiva Statue in Pumdikot was built in Mathura of India and then brought here in Nepal and installed.
Where is Pumdikot Shiva Statue Located?
Pumdikot Shiva Statue is located in the southern part of Pokhara (Kaski District of Gandaki Province) at an elevation of 1500 meters from sea level. It is around 10.5 km away from Pokhara Bazaar.
How to get to Pumdikot Shiva Statue?
Pumdikot Shiva Statue can be reached either by road (on bus, taxis) or by walking/hiking.
By Road, It’s around 10.5 km from Pokhara bazaar and you can get a public bus from Prithivi chowk which will cost you around 100 Nepali rupees and takes around an hour to reach. If you go on a private vehicle or taxis you can cut the time but the fare can be a bit expensive.
Hiking to the Pumdikot Shiva Statue is also another option. For that you’ll need to cross the Fewa Lake on a boat which costs around 800 rupees (4 people can share the boat) and then start the hike via World Peace stupa which can take you around 2-3 hours.
